The procession will pass through 13 villages include Songshan Street, Jiulizu Village, Dongshi Village, Shangtayou Village and Zhonglun Village (part of the village belongs to Zhongshan District and Daan District) in Songshan District; Zhongpo Village, Wufenpu Village, Xingya Village, Sanzhangli Village and Checeng Village (part of the village belongs to Daan District) in Xinyi District; Xixin Village and Houshanpo Village in Nangang District; Zhouwei Village in Neihu District.
Introduction:
To celebrate the birthday of Tianshang Shengmu (Mazu, a Chinese Sea Goddess), Songshan Ciyou Temple organizes Three Offerings Rites every year on Mazu’s birthday (March 23rd of the lunar calendar). The Mazu 13-Village Pilgrimage is held on March 25th and 26th of the lunar calendar. The purpose is to pray for favourable weather, peace, prosperity and to bring luck and harmony to every household. Residents in the area also prepare offerings to welcome Mazu and pray for blessings in the hope that the whole family may stay safe and healthy.
